香港這場(chǎng)騷亂讓我們看到了打著(zhù)“民主”幌子攪亂香港的廢青，看到了西方媒體的歪曲報道，也看到了幕后操盤(pán)的美國勢力。

我們的國家日益富強，國際地位不斷提升，然而西方國家對于中國的偏見(jiàn)卻并未因此消減。

西方為何一直抵觸中國？英國倫敦國王學(xué)院教授克里·布朗（Kerry Brown）從根源上進(jìn)行了剖析，他認為，這要從中西方思維的差異說(shuō)起。

克里·布朗首先做了一個(gè)預測，不久的將來(lái)，世界最大經(jīng)濟體的頭銜將會(huì )易主：

For the first time in modern history, the world will have as its largest economy, some time soon, a country that does not subscribe to the same set of values as those of the other closest large economies.

在不久的將來(lái)，世界最大經(jīng)濟體的頭銜將會(huì )易主，而這個(gè)新崛起的國家不會(huì )遵從其他幾個(gè)大國的意識形態(tài)，這在現代史上還是頭一次。

說(shuō)的就是中國。

中國的政治體制不同于西方國家，也不被大多數西方國家所理解。

China's unique "socialism with Chinese characteristics" is not an idea espousedby any other of the world's top ten economies. They mostly belong to a differentpolitical terrain.

中國特有的“中國特色社會(huì )主義”并不為世界其它九大經(jīng)濟體所推崇。那些國家大多歸屬于另一種政治意識形態(tài)。

espouse /ɪˈspaʊz/ ：擁護; 支持

terrain /təˈreɪn/：地形；地勢；地帶

而線(xiàn)索就在“中國特色社會(huì )主義”這幾個(gè)字當中。

克里·布朗解釋道，中國特色社會(huì )主義是一種“為中國量身定做”的“高度本土化”社會(huì )制度。

Socialism with Chinese Characteristics is bespoke to China. It may have ingredients and elements that are unique to it, but it is underpinned andcircumscribed by a cultural and intellectual background that is distinctive.

中國特色社會(huì )主義是為中國量身定做的。它也許包含一些獨有的成分和元素，但它同樣也受一種與眾不同的文化和知識背景的支撐與限制。

bespoke /bɪˈspəʊk/：（尤指服裝、電腦程序等）定制的

underpin /ˌʌndəˈpɪn/：鞏固；支撐

circumscribe /'sɜːkəmskraɪb/：約束，限制

克里·布朗觀(guān)察到中國自1978年改革開(kāi)放以來(lái)，一直在“解放思想”，積極學(xué)習西方產(chǎn)業(yè)模式，同時(shí)化為己用，將其充分本土化。

What we see today therefore is a Chinese economic and social political model which is highly indigenous.

因此我們今天看到的中國經(jīng)濟、社會(huì )及政治模式都是 高度本土化的。

indigenous /ɪn'dɪdʒɪnəs/：本土的

如今，中國的經(jīng)濟規模發(fā)展到世界第二，對于西方國家來(lái)說(shuō)，這種高度本土化的模式就顯得尤其“不合群”和“特立獨行”。

克里·布朗從西方思維的角度分析了他們?yōu)槭裁吹钟|中國的體制：

For western mindsets, who are keen on orderliness, and universal principles, and who like the neatness of absolute standards that are unrelated to localities, this attribute to China is hard to handle – it, after all, resists such thinking.

西方思維推崇秩序、通用準則，熱衷于整齊劃一無(wú)關(guān)地域的絕對標準，他們很難接受中國的這一特質(zhì)，畢竟中國多年來(lái)一直抗拒這種思維。

中國的思維模式是怎樣的呢？

克里·布朗認為，與西方思維相比，東方思維更加變通、包容（flexible and accommodating），在幾千年里練就了包容不同，甚至針?shù)h相對的觀(guān)點(diǎn)的能力。

Chinese traditions of thinking has an ability to accommodate different and often radically divergent ideas and principles over the last two millennium as Daoism, Confucianism, Buddhism and then more modern worldviews have emerged in the Chinese cultural and linguistic world.

在過(guò)去2000多年的時(shí)間里，中國傳統文化練就了包容不同，甚至針?shù)h相對的觀(guān)點(diǎn)和原則的能力，從古代的儒釋道三教爭鋒，到如今更加現代的世界觀(guān)，從中國文化和語(yǔ)言世界中涌現的思潮數不勝數。

而西方文化則慣于將知識鞏固和系統化。

Western intellectual traditions have had a habit to consolidate, systemise, and aim for coherence and completeness.

相比之下，西方學(xué)界的傳統則是將萬(wàn)物鞏固和系統化，力求連貫性和完整性。

克里·布朗認同這是西方思想的一大優(yōu)勢，但也指出其有必要了解和接納其“系統”之外的其他文化。

中西文化都是有著(zhù)悠久傳統的偉大文化，兩者應當和諧共處，而不是一爭高下，謀求主導權。

Perhaps in post modernity, there are now opportunities for a “liberation of thinking” where the West and the East can finally engage in a fruitful dialogue where they are able to balance with each other, rather than for either to aim for dominance.

在后現代時(shí)期，也許存在著(zhù)一個(gè)新的“解放思想”的機會(huì )，能夠促使西方文化和東方文化進(jìn)行富有成果的對話(huà)，最終實(shí)現雙方的平衡，而非各自謀求主導。

他指出，西方對中國的了解太不夠，相反，中國和其他亞洲國家在了解西方文化上則做得好得多。

On the whole, China, and of course other Asian countries, have done far better at acquiring at least some knowledge about the Western world view. This situation now needs to be rectified.

總體來(lái)說(shuō)，中國及其他亞洲國家，在了解西方世界觀(guān)這件事上做得好得多，這種情況亟待糾正。

現在，是西方國家認真了解中國的時(shí)候了。

 

It's my submission that one of the most urgent tasks for Europe and America now is to address this lack of fundamental knowledge about the Chinese intellectual traditions, so that at least they know what they are trying to manage and work with rather than operating on assumptions.

我認為對歐洲和美國來(lái)說(shuō)當下最緊迫的任務(wù)之一，就是彌補對中國傳統文化基礎知識的了解不足，這樣他們至少知道自己在嘗試與什么合作，而非在假想的基礎上做事。
