Scientists find that washing a pair of jeans can give out about 56,000 microfibers (wS). These fibers are less than 5 millimeters () long. They can go from our washing machines all the way to the oceans. This is bad for Earth and even harms (Σ) our health.

Journey of jeans’ microfibers
Do you wash your jeans every time after you wear them? US company Levis made a report. It says that washing jeans after 10 uses instead of two is better. This can cut energy (Դ) use by up to 80 percent.

Jeans can still be clean without washing

Scientists tested jeans without washing them for 15 months. They then washed the jeans and tested them after two weeks of wear. Surprisingly, the bacteria level (ˮƽ) of the two tests wasn’t very different.
