12月8日，杭州蕭山機場(chǎng)一從杭州飛往三亞的航班延誤50分鐘。因為當時(shí)機上一對年老夫婦乘客突然得知親屬去世的消息，隨即要求下機，機長(cháng)同意將航班緊急滑回。
A flight from Xiaoshan International Airport in East China's Hangzhou was delayed for 50 minutes last Sunday when the captain agreed to return to the terminal after an elderly couple asked to get off the plane because they had just learned of the death of a relative.
據《錢(qián)江晚報》報道，當時(shí)海南航空HU7638航班的機長(cháng)決定讓這兩位乘客下機，并且將原因用廣播通報給了機上其他乘客和機組人員。
The captain of the Hainan Airlines' flight decided to let the couple off the plane and reported the reason to the passengers and other crew members, the Qianjing Evening News reported.

因此，該航班起飛延遲了50分鐘，但是到達海南三亞只比計劃晚了15分鐘。航空公司允許機長(cháng)加速飛行，這可能消耗更多燃料。
The flight took off 50 minutes late but arrived in Sanya, only 15 minutes behind schedule as it appears the airline gave the captain permission to fly faster, which would consume more fuel.

The online topic "flight returns as elderly couple learns relative died" sparked a lot of discussion on Weibo. Some praised the captain and airline for the humane treatment of the couple during their time of distress.
有報道指出，2013年杭州蕭山機場(chǎng)曾發(fā)生過(guò)類(lèi)似事件：航班返回登機口，接上了一位遲到的乘客。這位乘客是在得知女兒因車(chē)禍身亡后趕來(lái)的。
According to local media reports in Hangzhou, a similar case in 2013 saw a flight from Xiaoshan International Airport return to the gate to pick up a passenger who was late for her flight. She had learned that day that her daughter had been killed in a car accident.
一名當事乘客表示“我們理解，所以在飛機上我什么也沒(méi)有說(shuō)，不過(guò)我當時(shí)確實(shí)很焦慮。”他表示自己很擔心由于到三亞后晚點(diǎn)，會(huì )趕不上高鐵。
"We all understood, so I didn't say anything on the plane. But I was really anxious at the time," a passenger on Sunday's flight told Pear Video, saying he was worried he might miss his train if the flight arrived in Sanya late.
同時(shí)，也有網(wǎng)友對于滑回決定表示異議：
從央視新聞官方微博的投票來(lái)看，截至11日16時(shí)，在6.9萬(wàn)名網(wǎng)友的參與下，認為“不合理”的人數略高于認為“合理”的人數。
據澎湃新聞報道，業(yè)內人士指出，在該事件中，飛機返回，會(huì )有人指責耽誤時(shí)間。飛機飛行，會(huì )有人指責機組無(wú)情，同時(shí)無(wú)法保證乘客在飛行途中的安全。而對于飛機滑行返回與否，并沒(méi)有標準化的操作空間。無(wú)論哪種選擇，機組人員都可能面臨指責。
12月9日，海南航空回應：當班機組根據公司運行手冊規定，在旅客存在情緒失控風(fēng)險不適宜繼續運輸的情況下，出于安全及人性關(guān)懷，決定滑回終止其行程。
